When is travel insurance necessary?

It is extremely important when travelling that you purchase the right travel insurance for your needs. Your credit card insurance, or the basic insurance that may come with your flight may not be enough to cover you in the event of a medical emergency.

If you do not have any insurance in place, paying for a medical emergency could cost thousands of pounds.

Travel insurance is necessary should you wish to cover yourself whilst you travel, for medical emergencies and pre-existing medical conditions. Whilst some countries have reciprocal health agreements, any medical treatment you have abroad may incur a charge (even when supplying your EHIC). To protect yourself from incurring medical charges abroad, make sure you have appropriate insurance cover in place. Your insurance is also necessary to cover you for cancellation of a pre-booked trip, or to cover your personal belongings whilst you travel.

Our policies also offer numerous other benefits - for full terms and conditions please refer to the specific policy wording you are purchasing or alternatively contact our Customer Service team on 0330 380 3600.
