Why do I need travel insurance for the UK?

Staying closer to home? A UK break can still mean paying in advance for accommodation, transport, and days out. If illness or another unexpected event means you have to cancel or come home early, you could be left out of pocket.

Direct Travel can offer single trip travel insurance for UK breaks. Bear in mind that your trip might have to fit certain requirements, like distance from home or how many nights you'll be away. This varies per policy, so read the available Policy Wordings or get in touch beforehand.

What could be covered?

Depending on the policy you choose, cover could include:

Cancellation - if you need to cancel your break for an insured reason
Curtailment - if an insured event means you need to come home early
Baggage and belongings - subject to the limits, excesses, and exclusions of your policy

UK trips are only available for cover as a single trip. When getting your quote, simply choose single trip cover and enter the details of your break.

It's important to know:

1. If you have a medical condition, please make sure you disclose it when buying your policy. Direct Travel Insurance will not provide cover for undeclared medical conditions.
2. You must be 18 years old or over to purchase.
3. We are unable to provide cover for countries where the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) have advised against all, or all but essential travel. Please visit the FCDO Foreign Travel Advice page to check the latest warnings.
4. This product is available for UK residents only.
5. Upper age limits may apply.
6. A 15% online discount is only applied to the base premium of Direct Travel policies, and will not apply to optional, additional cover.
