The Ski Resort

Val d'Isère is a renowned ski resort nestled at an elevation of 1,850 metres in the French Alps. The resort has a vast ski area, with 300 km of slopes and reliable snow cover from early December to early May, making it a favourite destination for winter sports enthusiasts. The village itself has a charming alpine village atmosphere, thanks to its authentic architecture and welcoming ambience. Visitors can explore a range of amenities, including wellness centres, spas, and a variety of dining options designed to highlight local cuisine. The resort has a commitment to preserving its heritage and history, which only adds to the visitor experience.

The Ski Slopes

Val d'Isère is a skier’s dream with tonnes of variety and great snow. If you're just starting out, the Solaise area is perfect with gentle beginner slopes and dedicated zones to build your confidence. Intermediates can cruise along scenic blue and red runs from Bellevarde and Solaise, which offer stunning views and long, satisfying descents. For the thrill-seekers, advanced skiers can tackle challenging black runs like the famous Face de Bellevarde, a steep, technical descent that really tests your skills. Val d'Isère is also legendary for its off-piste skiing. Spots like the Vallée Perdue (Lost Valley) take you through hidden gorges and untouched powder fields, though it’s always smart to go with a guide. There’s more than just skiing too - snowshoeing, ice climbing, and even paragliding if you want to see the Alps from above. There are activities suited to all ages and skill levels, making Val d’Isere a family-friendly resort.

Après Ski

Val d'Isère has loads of après-ski options beyond the usual party spots like La Folie Douce and Cocorico. There are plenty of places to go for a chilled vibe and live music, many of which serve all-day food so you replenish after a day on the slopes. For something quick you can visit a tearoom or bakery, and if you’re planning a longer apres-ski you can always commit to one of the wellness centres for a relaxing spa day. For something to look forward to, Les Tontons puts on concerts, gives afternoon lectures, and hosts beer- or wine-tasting events.

We'd like to wish you an enjoyable holiday in the snow and please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any queries regarding your insurance cover.
