At the heart of Banff National Park and just 15 minutes away from the town of Banff, historic Banff Sunshine Village gives its visitors easy access to both adventure and relaxation. The resort straddles both Alberta and British Columbia, and with an elevation of over 2,000 metres it has a reputation for reliable snowfall and a season lasting from November to May. The village atmosphere at Banff Sunshine is lively and welcoming, bustling with activity and a range of amenities. Visitors can enjoy various dining options, from quick bites to more leisurely meals, all while taking in the majestic Canadian Rockies.
The resort's layout is designed to cater to all levels of skiers and snowboarders. With over 3,500 acres of skiable terrain spread across three mountains - Goat's Eye Mountain, Lookout Mountain, and Mount Standish - there's something for everyone, whether you're carving your first turns or seeking out the steep and deep. The resort boasts 137 named runs, catering to all skill levels: 20% beginner, 55% intermediate, and 25% advanced/expert. For thrill-seekers, Banff Sunshine offers renowned freeride zones, including Delirium Dive and Wild West. These areas provide off-piste opportunities with steep chutes and deep powder, recommended only for expert riders.
Banff Sunshine has a après-ski scene for everyone, from lively social spots to tranquil retreats. Mad Trapper's in the Village is a historic lodge, established in 1928. On weekends from April through May, there’s live music that often extends onto the snow-covered patio, and at any time you’ll find hearty food and a wide selection of beverages. For a more serene and upscale experience, Eagle's Nest Bistro atop the Sunshine Mountain Lodge provides a fine dining atmosphere. The bistro serves locally-sourced specialties like bison, salmon, and Alberta beef, alongside handcrafted cocktails. The resort's après-ski activities are primarily centred around the Sunshine Village Base Area at the foot of the mountain, and the Sunshine Mountain Lodge which is situated at a higher elevation and has a more classic après-ski vibe. Here, guests can also unwind in the outdoor hot tub, while taking in stunning mountain vistas.
