What was the Know Before You Go campaign?

Know Before You Go was a travel safety campaign run by the Foreign Office from 2001 to help British travellers prepare for trips abroad. It has since ended, and the government now shares the same kind of advice through its Travel Aware campaign. You can read more on our FCDO Travel Aware page.

Before you travel, check the official FCDO foreign travel advice for your destination, and keep an eye on our FCDO updates. This matters for your insurance too: if the FCDO advises against travel to where you are going, your policy may not cover you.
