Travel Chaos after Freezing Fog Causes Delays and Cancellations.

Freezing fog has caused travel chaos across British airports overnight.

Passengers travelling from Heathrow, Luton, and London City Airport have faced delays and cancelations, after a spell of frozen fog covered the south last night.

Flights from Heathrow to Istanbul, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Brussels, and other European destinations were delayed.

Flights from Luton Airport were also delayed, to destinations including Barcelona, Edinburgh, Bucharest, and Geneva.

A yellow warning has been issued by the Met Office for much of the south, asking people to be aware.

The foggy conditions left Luton Airport suffering with traffic control technical issues. The airport updated its Twitter followers with: “Air traffic control experiencing weather related issues which are affecting departures.”

Some flights from London City Airport were also cancelled on Wednesday, due to dense fog.

Updating their travellers, London City Airport tweeted: “Passengers please note due to foggy weather conditions there may be delays and cancellations, please check with airline for flight info.”

It is always sensible to leave additional time for journeys when weather conditions are poor. Don't forget, you can get your travel insurance from Direct Travel at either www.direct-travel.co.uk or ring or friendly UK based travel team on 0330 880 3600.
