Italy Airline Strike February 2026: Travel Disruption Expected
Travellers planning trips to Italy this month are being advised to stay alert, due to aviation staff striking nationwide on the 26th February 2026.
Its set to last 24 hours, and airlines like ITA Airways, easyJet, and Vueling may have affected flight schedules. The planned industrial action might cause delays and cancellations to flights arriving in, departing from, or travelling within Italy.
Its worth noting that Italys aviation authority requires airlines to operate certain flights during protected time windows, typically in the morning and early evening. However, outside of these periods, flights may be delayed, rescheduled, or cancelled.
Major airports like Rome, Milan, and Venice could see longer queues, delays, and last-minute changes to departure times. Travellers flying between the UK and Italy, or connecting through Italian airports, may also be affected. Even if your flight isnt cancelled, disruption elsewhere can cause knock-on delays, so its important to keep an eye on your flight status.
If youre travelling on or around the 26th, you should check your flight details regularly and look out for updates from your airline. Allow extra time at the airport and be prepared for changes to your plans. Its a busy travel period due to the winter sports season, so availability may be limited, but affected flights are usually compensated with alternative options from your airline.
What about travel insurance?
