What is an excess?

An excess is an initial sum of money which a traveller pays towards an overall claim.

There are excesses applicable under most sections of our policies, and the amount varies depending on the insurer and level of cover you have chosen. We also offer the option to waive the excess, so you would be able to make a claim for the total amount of financial loss.

Please note that the excess outlined for each section of your policy applies per person, per section, and per claim.

For example - if your excess is £100 and there are two travellers on the policy, to make a claim under one section for both travellers, the excess deducted would be £200. Should both travellers also have to claim under another section, this would be another £200 deduction.
