Is there any cover for pet care on your policies?

Travel insurance is there to protect you and your trip, so it won''t pay for your pet''s vet bills or the cost of a kennel or cattery while you are away. For that, you would need pet insurance.

Our own Direct Travel policies don''t include kennel or cattery fees. They do recognise service animals, meaning dogs individually trained to help someone with a disability, such as guide dogs and hearing dogs. If your service animal dies before you travel or while you are away, you may be able to claim for cancelling or cutting short your trip. Guard dogs, emotional support animals and other pets are not included.

Some other policies we offer can pay extra kennel or cattery fees if your journey home is delayed or you are too ill to travel back on time. Check your policy wording to see whether yours does and how much it pays.
