Do your policies cover emergency dental treatment?

Yes, policies sold through Direct Travel can cover emergency dental treatment abroad. The cover is there for sudden problems that need treating straight away, not for check-ups or cosmetic work.

On our own Direct Travel policies, dental treatment sits within the emergency medical section. You could claim if, while you are away, you have a dental injury or infection, lose a filling or break a tooth and need it treated there and then. Dental care has its own limit inside the medical cover. For policies bought from 8 January 2026 it is £200 on Standard and Premier and £500 on Premier Plus, and the policy excess may apply.

The other policies we offer set their own dental limits, so check the cover summary in your policy wording.

Keep every receipt and any notes the dentist gives you, as you will need them to make a claim. If the treatment is likely to be expensive, call the emergency assistance number in your policy documents before you pay.
