Do you cover Gadgets if placed in the hold of an aircraft?
As of the 20th June 2018 we no longer include / offer gadget cover to our travel insurance policy holders.
Following the government directive banning the carriage of certain electrical devices in hand luggage for inbound flights to the UK from Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia it is now a requirement that these items are placed in the hold of the aircraft if they're larger than any of these measurements:
- 16cm in length
- 9.3cm in width
- 1.5cm in depth (thickness)
The accessories that are supplied with the electrical devices also follow the above guidelines such as:
- keyboards
- power supplies and transformers
- external hard drives
You cannot take the electrical device or accessory in your hand luggage if larger than these measurements even if purchased at the airport before departure.
Please note your Gadget Insurance policy will not extend cover for items placed in the hold of an aircraft.
