Can I cancel or cut short my trip to be with an ill friend or relative?

If a close relative or friend becomes ill, is injured or dies, you may be able to claim under the cancellation or curtailment (cutting short) section of your policy.

Each policy defines 'close relative' and 'close friend' in its own way and sets out when you can claim, so check your Policy Wording for details.

You would not usually be able to claim if you cancel or come home early because of a condition your friend or relative already had, or a complication of it.

Read our guide to cancellation cover.
