There is cover across our policies to ride a motorbike while abroad. The premium, level of cover, medical expenses, personal liability, and personal accident can be easily affected by taking part in this activity, so please check your Policy Wording to familiarise yourself with your cover while riding a motorbike.
Direct Travel/AllSafe (Allianz)These policies include riding a motorbike under Activity Pack 1, which means you do not need to pay an additional premium for this cover.
Please note, the following rules apply:
- You can only ride a motorbike in EU countries- You are only covered for use of a motorbike ‘on road’- You must be taking part on a recreational/amateur basis- You must hold an appropriate UK licence for the capacity of motorbike you are using- You must wear all the recommended safety equipment, as a rider or passenger (as a passenger, you must wear a crash helmet, and understand that the main rider holds the appropriate licence to ride the motorcycle)- You are NOT covered under Section I - Travel Accident, if you ride a motorcycle over 125cc.- You are NOT covered to participate/train for any amateur, semi-professional, or professional sporting competition/event. But you are covered to participate in informal, recreational sporting competitions/events organised by hotels/resorts/cruise lines to entertain their guests.
Fit2Travel (Arch)These policies include riding a motorbike under each activity category:
Activity Pack 3 - Off-road motorcycling (up to 250cc)*Activity Pack 6 - Motor racing/Rallies/Competitions (amateur)*
- You must be taking part on a recreational/amateur basis- You must hold an appropriate UK licence for the capacity of motorbike you are using- You must wear all the recommended safety equipment, as a rider or passenger
*You are NOT covered under Section B19 - If you are held legally liable for injury or damage
Freespirit (Canopius)These policies include riding a motorbike under Activity Pack 1b, which means you do not need to pay an additional premium for this cover.
- You cannot use a motorbike with a capacity higher than 125cc- You are only covered for use of a motorbike ‘on public roads’- You cannot use a motorbike for more than 14 days per trip- You must be taking part on a recreational/amateur basis- You must hold an appropriate UK licence for the capacity of motorbike you are using- You must wear all the recommended safety equipment, as a rider or passenger- You are NOT covered under Section G - Personal Accident, or Section H - Personal Liability- You are NOT covered to participate/train for any professional sporting competition/event. ‘Professional’ is defined as ‘activities or sports from which any income is obtained or sponsorship is received’.
Goodtogo (Red Sands)These policies include riding a motorbike under each activity category:
Category A, for no additional premium - Motorcycling up to 50cc (exc, motorcycle touring and quad biking)Category B - Motorcycling between 51 - 125cc (exc. motorcycle touring and quad biking)Category C - Motorcycling over 125cc (exc. motorcycle touring and quad biking)
- You must be taking part on a recreational/amateur basis- You must hold an appropriate UK licence for the capacity of motorbike you are using- You must wear all the recommended safety equipment, as a rider or passenger- You are NOT covered under Section B9 - Personal Liability- You are NOT covered if the activity is the sole purpose of your trip- You are NOT covered for competitions or any professional activity
