50 people killed in attack at Florida gay nightclub

50 people have been killed, and a further 53 are injured after a gunman open fired at gay night club Pulse, in Orlando, on Saturday night. It has been reported that around 350 partygoers were in the club when the shooting took place, with around 100 of them being taken hostage. The gunman, 29-year-old Omar Mateen, who was said to have had links with terror groups, was later shot dead by The Orlando Police force. With some reports claiming ISIS have taken responsibility for the attack, the story, headlining many of today’s leading newspapers, reports that Florida and major tourist destination Orlando, have now been thrown into a state of emergency. Buddy Dyer, the Mayor of Orlando, asked for the state of emergency to be put into place, after it was stated that the shooting is reportedly the deadliest mass shooting in the US.
