Low deposit deals introduced by online travel agents
Early bookings are set to be on the increase this year as more online travel agents offer low deposit deals.
Payments firm Wex have offered OTAs an arrangement meaning that deposits as low as £49 per person can be taken, whilst adhering to all CAA trust fund rules. Wex are paid in full by the OTA when the amount is due from the customer.
Low deposit deals are not generally available for destinations with high cancellation levels, such as those viewed as potential terror attack targets, or areas which waver on being advised against by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. Some destinations with high cancellation levels are being offered on the new schemes, but with a higher deposit.
The new deals encourage people to book early, and online travel agents say that deposits of around £200 are enough to secure a family holiday booking.
