Italian architecture, Spanish sunshine, and Japanese transport links - if only it all existed on place!
If you could design your perfect holiday destination, which countries would you fuse together? There are many things to consider when choosing a holiday destination, and sometimes it can be difficult to find a place that meets all your needs.
Whether it's the food, the weather, the culture or the infrastructure that's most important to you, chances are you'll have to pick a location based on one or two specific aspects that it is particularly good at, sacrificing other elements which it may satisfy less adequately.
A recent survey by British Airways Holidays has revealed that if Brits could design their perfect holiday destination, it would have a combination of Italian cuisine, the beaches of the Caribbean and the friendliness of the US.
Indeed, Italy was found to be the most desirable nation in several regards, with 44 per cent of respondents saying they would like to be able to sample the country's culinary delights whenever they go on holiday, 39 per cent claiming it has the perfect architecture and 28 per cent identifying it as the nation with the most charming culture.
On top of this, exactly 50 per cent of respondents said they yearn to experience the romance of Italy when they go abroad.
Other key factors about which respondents were asked include efficiency of transport links, with Japan being identified as the country that offers the best service in this regard.
Some 30 per cent also recognised the US as the friendliest nation in the world, with Ireland coming in second place, while 42 per cent said that the UK has the best sense of humour.
In terms of climate, 31 per cent of people stated that their ideal holiday destination would boast the atmospheric conditions of Spain, with 29 per cent opting for that of the Maldives, while the Caribbean was selected as the region with the most picturesque beaches.
