With the British General Election on the horizon, a new study shows that more than a third of British travellers would rather cancel their holiday, than be seated beside a politician on the plane.
In a survey created by Holiday Extras, the results showed that 30% of Brits, if seated next to a politician on the plane, would ask to be re-seated. 34% of people even went to the length of saying that they would cancel their holiday all together, if they were to be sat next to a politician.
Out of the main party leaders, current Prime Minister Theresa May was the preferred politician that us Brits would pick to sit next to on a long haul flight, winning 42% of votes. On the opposite end of the scale, Leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, came in with a just 8% of votes. Closely following Corbyn, Nicola Sturgeon, leader of the Scottish National Party, was voted for by just 7% of those polled.
Commenting on the findings of the research, Communications Director for Holiday Extras, Ant Clarke Cowell, said: “With the upcoming election shaping up to be a hotly contested race, we thought it would be interesting to run our very own customer opinion poll. With a third of people admitting that they’d cancel their holiday if they had to sit next to a politician, it seems that us Brits are determined not to allow election fever to interfere with our precious summer holidays!”
