What is an Ironman?
An Ironman is a long distance endurance event made up of swimming, cycling, and running stages completed one after another. Participants must finish each discipline and its transitions within the event’s time limits.
Can I get travel insurance for an Ironman?
Cover can be available for amateur Ironman participation when the event forms part of a wider trip. However, cover does not apply if entering the event is the main purpose of your trip.
Select Ironman when getting your quote and check that it appears on your Policy Certificate or policy documents. Professional, sponsored or paid participation and competing for prize money are not covered.

What can travel insurance help with?
If you’re injured while taking part in an insured Ironman, emergency medical expenses and repatriation can be covered, subject to the terms and limits of your policy.
Depending on the policy selected, cover may also be available for cancellation, curtailment, personal belongings and other travel related problems. Personal Accident, Personal Liability and cover for bicycles or other sporting equipment can vary, so check the applicable Policy Wording.
