What is offshore power boating?

Offshore power boating involves travelling in a motorised boat beyond recognised inshore waters. Journeys can take place farther from the coast and may involve longer distances, more exposed conditions and fewer opportunities to return to shore quickly.

The boundary between inshore and offshore waters can vary. Check the applicable Policy Wording and make sure the activity selected matches the route, your role aboard the boat and the waters in which you will travel.

Can I get travel insurance for offshore power boating?

Yes, policies that cover recreational offshore power boating can be available through Direct Travel.

Offshore power boating must be added when getting your quote and should appear on your Policy Certificate or policy documents. Inshore power boating does not automatically cover journeys into offshore waters.
