Tribesmen abduct three German nationals

Early on 15 December 2008 Yemeni tribesmen abducted three German nationals in southern Yemen near the historic city of Radaa, located approximately 80 mi/130 km south of Sanaa. Sources indicate that one of the kidnapped individuals is a German citizen working for the German Technical Cooperation GTZ and the other two are her parents who were on vacation with her. The kidnappers are demanding the release of three tribesmen who were detained by police several months ago over a land dispute.
