Attempted suicide attack on Sth Korean Ambassador

On 18 March 2009 a suspected suicide bomber detonated explosives near a convoy of vehicles that was carrying the South Korean ambassador and other officials toward Sanaa International Airport. Security officials with the South Korean foreign ministry stated that no one was injured in the incident and the bomber was the only person killed. The convoy was carrying a delegation of South Korean officials and family members that had come to Yemen to investigate another bombing that killed four South Korean tourists in the city of Shibam in eastern Yemen on 15 March 2009. The attack occurred as the group was leaving al-Dailami military base. There have been no reports of any delays or disruptions at Sanaa International Airport.
