Large fire brakes out at Tan Son Nhat International Airport

A large fire broke out at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (VVTS/SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City at approximately 0250 local time on 27 October 2008. According to officials, the fire broke out in the VIP lounge at the domestic terminal, spreading to the cafeteria, causing moderate damage and temporarily closing the facility. The fire was brought under control at approximately 0400 local time and was completely extinguished by 0600 local time. All passengers in the domestic terminal were moved to the international terminal. Numerous domestic flights were delayed. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
