Massive power outage in Caracas
02 Sep 2008
On 1 September 2008 a mass power outage struck Caracas and a main oil-producing area. The outage was reportedly caused by a problem in a transmission line. The incident was the second to occur in four months. No trains were operating in Caracas due to the blackout. Caracas' Simon Bolivar "Maiquetia" International Airport (SVMI/CCS) experienced disruptions and delays because of failed computers. Supply was returned to several areas shortly before the afternoon rush hour.
