United States
Winter storms have resulted in significant flight delays at airports across the northeastern and western United States.
22 Dec 2008
On 21 and 22 December 2008 several airlines canceled flights at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (KSEA/SEA) and Portland International Airport (KPDX/PDX), leaving hundreds of passengers stranded. Both airports lacked sufficient supplies of de-icing fluid. Alaska Airlines expects to resume operations at the airports on 22 December, but will significantly reduce the flight schedule. Meanwhile, more than 150 flights were canceled at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (KORD/ORD) on 21 December, while significant flight delays have been reported in recent days at Newark Liberty International Airport (KEWR/EWR), New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (KJFK/JFK) and Boston's Logan International Airport (KBOS/BOS). Further delays and cancellations are expected on 22 December.
