AIRLINES CANCEL FLIGHTS DUE TO TROPICAL STORM

Tropical Storm Ida made landfall at Dauphin Island, Alabama, at 0540 local time on 10 November 2009.
As of 1500 UTC, the storm was located approximately 30 mi/50 km east-southeast of Mobile, Alabama, and 25 mi/40 km west-northwest of Pensacola, Florida. The storm is moving northeast at 9 mph/8 kt and is expected to turn eastward. The storm has weakened to a tropical drepsssion. There have been reports of electricity disruptions in the western part of the Florida Panhandle. Flooding is expected in low-lying areas from New Orleans to the Florida Panhandle. Several airlines have cancelled all flights to cities along the stretch of the Gulf Coast affected by the tropical storm.
