2 small explosive devices found in Aspen

Authorities in Aspen, Colorado, evacuated the downtown area in the afternoon of 31 December 2008 after two improvised explosive devices were discovered near a Wells Fargo bank branch. The bombs had notes attached threatening "mass death" unless the banks turned over US$60,000. A bomb squad detonated the devices without causing any injuries. Authorities reopened the downtown on the morning of 1 January 2009. The main suspect in the incident -- who was reportedly angry that the town had become a haven for affluent tourists -- committed suicide on 1 January
