Underground strike on London's Victoria Line

At 2100 local time on 20 May 2009 members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union launched a 24-hour strike that has closed down the Victoria Line of the London Underground. The union is calling for the reinstatement of a dismissed train driver and also accuses management of not taking sufficient safety precautions on the Victoria Line. Management, on the other hand, claims that the driver was dismissed for compromising the passengers' safety. This is the second strike RMT has staged on this issue in the past two months.
