SNOW BRINGS CHAOS TO AIR AND ROAD TRAVEL

Heavy snow has caused travel chaos across Britain with hundreds of drivers stranded and severe weather warnings for many parts of the country. The hardest hit is south-east England, including London, Kent and Essex, where temperatures dropped to as low as -3C. The Met Office has also issued severe warnings for north-east England including Yorkshire and County Durham All flights in and out of Luton Airport were suspended. Gatwick had to be shut for seven hours as snow was cleared from the runway. There are also cancellations and diversions at Manchester, Heathrow and Stansted airports. Around 50 Easyjet flights have been cancelled.
