RAIL UNION THREATEN TO CONTINUE STRIKE ACTION

30 Jul 2009
On 30 July 2009 members of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) and the Aslef union launched a 48-hour strike. The strike, which was called to protest pay and working conditions, is causing major disruptions to National Express East Anglia services. Routes in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex were among those affected by the action. Limited services were running to and from London and Stansted Airport (EGSS/STN), and there were no plans to supplement the routes with buses. Union leaders have stated that they intend to strike on every Thursday and Friday of the next three weeks until their demands are met.
