Heavy snowfall interupts transport for a second time in 4 days
05 Feb 2009
Heavy snowfall is causing significant disruptions to air and ground transportation across the United Kingdom on 5 February 2009. In the London area, dozens of flights at Luton Airport were cancelled or delayed after the airport's runway was temporarily closed due to the snow. Flights to and from the airport have since resumed. Delays are also being reported at Stansted Airport. Other airports experiencing disruptions include Aberdeen, Bristol, Robin Hood International, East Midlands, Cardiff International and George Best Belfast City. Bus and rail services are also experiencing disruptions in some areas, but public transportation is operating normally in the London area. Transportation disruptions are expected to continue through 6 February, as meteorologists are forecasting additional snowstorms.
