HEAVY RAIN HITS SCOTLAND
02 Nov 2009
Heavy rain has caused havoc in the north and east of Scotland with many homes flooded and trains cancelled.
The coastguard assisted with evacuations from houses in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, where two rivers burst their banks, and in St Andrews, Fife.
First ScotRail cancelled services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Roads have been closed in Angus, Grampian, Tayside and Fife. There are severe flood warnings for parts of the River Isla and River Spey.
Flood warnings cover the Isla from Ruthven to the River Tay, and the Spey from downstream of Grantown to Spey Bay in Moray.
