Abu Dhabi International Airport will temporarily close on 22 July

Emirati officials have announced that Abu Dhabi International Airport (OMAA/AUH) will temporarily close to all air traffic operations on 22 July 2008 while maintenance work is completed and a small portion of the airstrip is re-surfaced. The 12-hour closure will be in effect from 0215 until 1415 local time (2215-1015 UTC). Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi's flag carrier, has reportedly canceled a portion of its daily flight services; other flight operations may either be moved up or delayed in light of the repairs. Authorities are urging travelers to check with their airline or travel agent to determine if the work may affect their flight.
