Gas shipments resume

The Russian gas company Gazprom resumed the shipment of natural gas to Ukraine and Europe on 20 January 2009, ending a period of almost two weeks in which all gas shipments were halted. Ukrainian energy officials have indicated that it could take up to 36 hours before gas reaches European countries, but Slovakia and Hungary have reported that they have already received shipments.
