Country put on terror alert

Authorities have issued a nationwide terror alert warning of imminent terrorist attacks in the country. The Ugandan Joint Anti-Terrorism Squad stated that it believes that the threats are linked to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network and are the result of the county's peacekeeping role in Somalia. No specific targets for the possible attacks have not been identified, but authorities have urged residents to maintain vigilance especially when visiting churches, shopping malls, restaurants, markets, hotels, taxi parks, government buildings and foreign embassies, as these locations could be the terrorists' likely targets.
