Young people 'most likely to travel abroad'
Young people who have been in the workforce for fewer than five years are among the most likely age group to travel frequently in the near-term, according to an American Express director.
Avinash Lalwani, the credit card firm's director of global financial services at airports, asserted that this demographic - known as Generation Y - is "technologically-savvy" and have a more global outlook than some of their predecessors.
He explained that this group is expected to "come in big time" in the next two years in terms of the travel industry.
A new survey of students carried out by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has indicated that some 41 per cent of young people fail to take out a travel insurance policy before they set off abroad.
The FCO has urged young people to be as prepared as they can before they depart and suggested they make sure they read the fine print of their comprehensive travel insurance policy to ensure they are suitably covered for the type of activities they will be doing while they are away.
