The county has some of the most significant beauty spots in the country.
Staycationers can make the best happy memories from holidays in the UK by visiting Yorkshire, according to the newly released results of a survey.
According to those who replied to the questionnaire from Cottages4You, two destinations in Yorkshire ranked in the top ten destinations in the UK which give people memories that they treasure for the rest of their lives, reports the Northern Echo.
The best place for travel insurance customers to visit in Yorkshire is Whitby, with respondents voting the area as the eighth best memory they have from holidaying at home. The secluded seaside town is popular with tourists for its location, and also because it is a popular fishing port.
In ninth place, just behind Whitby, was the Yorkshire Dales. The hills and valleys of the historical national park area make for some of the most special memories of their holidays that people have. The Yorkshire Dales span the historic boundaries of the county, and are popular every year amongst those who are opting to take a holiday in the UK as opposed to heading overseas.
The survey was conducted to see how holidays affect people in the long term, even a while after they have returned home. It found that 80 per cent of the population said that they treasure memories from holidays gone by far above money in terms of making them happy.
Furthermore, 70 per cent of the UK population said that they use the memory of a summer holiday in order to cheer them up again in the winter months when they feel a bit down thanks to the colder weather once again.
People who are visiting Yorkshire can also visit the historic city of York, where they can see the historic Yorkminster and the Shambles, a narrow twisting array of streets which was recently voted as one of the most attractive settings in Britain.
