A television presenter has organised a tour of the region that includes meditation and yoga seminars in the Himalayas.
Jetting off to a far-flung country in search of sun, sand and relaxation is at the top of many travellers' agendas - but those interested in combining sport with their holiday could participate in a tour of northern India.
Television presenter and yoga instructor Padma has arranged the adventure, which includes meditation and yoga seminars, as well as the opportunity to practise the poses amidst dramatic mountain settings.
"This will be an inner journey, as well as a unique physical experience ... Padma's guided meditations and yoga techniques help bring the peace and clarity that our souls crave," explained the president of tour operator Sacred Earth Journeys, Helen Tomei.
Advanced stretches will be carried out as part of the excursions, led by Padma who has studied in the north Indian region for a decade.
One 15-day break includes a trip around New Delhi, the Jama Masjid mosque, Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk marker, the Taj Mahal - which was constructed in memory of its creator's wife after she died during childbirth - and the modern Bahai Temple, alongside "gentle yoga" practice and relaxation classes.
Tantric techniques can be learned from a resident guru who lives in the Himalayan mountains - reached by the small group of enthusiasts aboard a tiny aircraft. He is said to live a "mystical, yogic life", which could prove inspirational to those new to the art.
Single trip insurance policyholders might also participate in traditional dancing and song during their jeep safari to tribal villages in the Thar Desert and surrounding areas.
All of the aforementioned activities have been arranged as part of the excursion that lasts from February 20th until March 6th 2011 and interested parties are encouraged to register their interest immediately.
