People considering a UK staycation in the future may wish to head to Bath.
The attractions of going outside the UK for a holiday are well documented - great weather, good food, new and exciting cultures and traditions to name just three - but travel insurance customers may find all they are looking for and more with a staycation to the historical city of Bath.
Literary enthusiasts will no doubt have a great time in this part of the country and anyone taken with books like Persuasion and Northanger Abbey will surely want to pay the Jane Austen Centre a visit while they are in the city, the Daily Mail reports.
Austen lived in the township between 1801 and 1806 and the Centre would be a great place to begin for those keen to find out more about their favourite author. They can also sign up for a free audio walking tour to really follow in her footsteps.
One good way of getting to know Bath is to take an open-top bus tour, which covers all the best local landmarks, including the Circus - a circular street reminiscent of Rome's Colosseum - and the Royal Crescent, a row of townhouses that overlook a green, both of which were designed in the 18th century.
Christmas would be a great time to visit Bath.
The annual Christmas market - on until December 11th - is set near the Abbey and the Roman Baths, with more than 120 wooden chalet-style stalls replete with jewellery, handmade crafts and lots of locally produced food and drink.
Between December 5th and 7th, people can also head to the Holburne Museum where they can make a willow lantern and take part in the annual procession on December 8th.
