Visit "some of the most spectacular countryside in the world"
Make the most of an annual travel insurance policy and take a break in one of the UK's national parks.
"The Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales are two of our national parks and have some of the most spectacular countryside in the world. Both also have literary connections - Beatrix Potter and the Brontes," said a spokesperson for VisitBritain.
Both of these destinations were named as two of the top ten holiday hotspots for those wishing to take a break in Britain.
This was according to research carried out by Garmin, which found that the Lake District was the second most popular destination this summer.
It revealed that 11 per cent of people with UK travel insurance would be visiting the area, with popular activities including a walk around Lake Windermere, the national park or around Ullswater Lake.
Other less rural holiday destinations in the UK included Edinburgh, London and Brighton.
Even if youre travelling within the UK, holiday insurance from Direct Travel Insurance is still a sensible purchase as the expense of dealing with issues on a holiday can be costly in any country.
