Virtual tours of holiday destinations 'can help decide where to holiday'
Brits looking to holiday at home are able to research their destination before they go thanks to a new partnership between VisitBritain and Google, it has been announced.
In preparation for their city break trip, travellers can take a virtual walking tour of 25 cities around Britain and Northern Ireland and their attractions thanks to the new service from the tourism agency and Google Street View.
"The internet is an incredibly rich resource for raising awareness of destinations, driving travel to and around Britain," explained Justin Reid, head of online marketing at VisitBritain.
People who have taken out UK holiday insurance will be able to decide where they wish to visit, from London, Cardiff and Edinburgh to Bristol, Norwich and Aberdeen, as well as being able to show their friends and families where they visited when they return using the online facility.
The Angel of the North, Loch Ness, Stonehenge, Bamburgh Castle and Cheddar Gorge were among the "top tourist treasures" voted for by the British public in a poll by the partnership.
Even if you’re travelling within the UK, holiday insurance from Direct Travel Insurance is still a sensible purchase as the expense of dealing with issues on a holiday can be costly in any country.
