The Virginia Tourism Corporation has said the Atlantic coast state offers something for all the family.
The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) has today (June 2nd) said that the American state is the ideal location for a family getaway this
summer.
With its mixture of history, picturesque beaches and mountainous terrain, Virginia has something for everyone, according to the VTC.
Also, as it is situated near to the country's capital city of Washington DC on the Atlantic coast, a day trip to visit world-famous sightseeing locations such as the White House and the Congress building could be factored in to a holiday in Virginia.
Highly recommended places to visit in the state include Williamsburg, the colonial town that forms part of America's historic triangle.
It was here that ideas about the American revolution and resistance towards the British invasion first took flight, meaning that it represents a landmark location in the history of the US.
The VTC operates a special package for people looking to visit this location over the course of the
summer, which involves a seven-day stay in the region and includes visits to the other two areas that form the other parts of the triangle, Jamestowne and Yorktown.
Meanwhile, for a more child-friendly holiday, VTC recommends a trip to Lynchburg which offers the children's attraction of the fun-filled museum Amazement Square.
Alternatively, a stay near the coast offers the opportunity to go on a dolphin-watching boat excursion and family fun is never far away at the 3,000-acre Hot Springs resort, which offers activities for all ages including golf, mountain biking and paintballing.
If you are planning on taking a trip to Virginia this
summer, taking out
travel insurance before leaving the UK is advisable.
