Holidaymakers will find much to see and do in Vienna, according to one expert.
Vienna is a city of many possibilities for holidaymakers, according to the city's tourism organisation.
Angelika Grzebyta, media manager for the Vienna Tourist Board, explained that those visiting the Austrian capital will find a melting pot of old and new architecture and plenty of cultural and natural attractions to enjoy.
Its food and drink is of a particularly high quality, while Christmas can be a great time to visit due to the various markets that take place, she said.
Ms Grzebyta also noted that while Vienna is not a particularly cheap destination, there are many free events and attractions that may be suited to travellers on a budget.
These include the Danube Island Festival, the Vienna Music Festival and the New Year's Eve Trail - and taking out cheap
travel insurance may also help to cut the cost of a Vienna holiday.
"In terms of food, Vienna also offers a great variety for the price-conscious eater," the expert remarked.
Vienna was ranked the top city in which to live in Mercer's 2009 Quality of Living survey.
