Verona has plenty of attractions for visitors, as well as being close to other spots.
Travel insurance policyholders keen to experience a new taste of Italy might consider visiting the city of Verona.
EasyJet has just announced it will run two new routes from London Gatwick, taking passengers to Verona on a daily basis.
Commenting, spokeswoman for the Italian State Tourist Board Stefania Gatta says this has made the "beautiful" destination more accessible and brings further options for visitors.
"Verona is a wonderful city in its own right, but also is a gateway to Lake Garda, the Dolomites and other historic towns such as Padua and Mantua,"
Sirmione is the nearest resort to Lake Garda, where people can head to spots such as the Della Scala Fortress, stroll on the waterfront or view the Roman remains of Latin poet Catullo's villa.
Ms Gatta suggests in Verona itself there is plenty to keep travellers busy, such as the Arena, where the Opera Festival is held in summer.
Perhaps one of the most famous attractions is the balcony famed for its role in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, although the medieval Piazza delle Erbe and Ponte Scaligero are also well worth visiting.
Food lovers will find plenty to sample in the area's restaurants, while there is also delicious wine or prosecco to be found in the many bars that are dotted around the destination, Ms Gatta notes.
Further afield, the mountain city of Mantua has sites such as the Palazzo Ducale and Palazzo Te, as well as visits to Trento and the Dolomites among the main attractions, the spokeswoman adds.
