Holidaymakers will look to spend their money wisely in the New Year.
The biggest concerns for holidaymakers in 2012 have been revealed, with people most likely to look for value for money when they are booking their trips abroad over the next 12 months.
These concerns have been published by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) as part of its Travel Trends Report 2012, in which it says that while people will not be looking for the cheapest holidays, they will be looking for those which offer something worthwhile. This means that trips offering unique experiences and specialist holidays will become more popular throughout the year.
ABTA also says that the market which will see the biggest squeeze in the next year will be the mid market holidays, which may have been seen as the easy options in the past. It says that people will either be looking to save money by opting for the cheapest holidays, or going for something more unique by splashing out on the likes of an expensive cruise or an adventure holidays.
The rise in the demand for unique holidays could be attributed the recent ABTA report which said that people in the UK are increasingly being influenced by what they see on TV when buying their holidays and travel insurance, with programs like the BBC's Frozen Planet proving to be a big influence on those looking for their own arctic adventure.
Mark Tanzer ABTA chief executive said: "The squeeze on household spending looks set to continue and this is likely to see holidaymakers become more discerning about where they spend their money and what they get for it. This presents a good opportunity for travel companies to offer tailored, specialist and authentic experiences, as well as all-inclusive packages for the budget conscious, that provide great value for money."
