Snowstorms in the north-east of the US are causing travel chaos in the form of delayed flights.
Holiday insurance policyholders preparing for a trip to the US could do well to contact their airline to ensure their connection has not been affected by a spell of adverse weather.
Travel chaos could be on the cards for some as a snowstorm in the north-east of the country has caused delays to some flights including those intended for John F Kennedy Airport in New York, as well as Philadelphia International Airport and Newark International Airport in New Jersey.
The
Foreign and Commonwealth Office has suggested passengers obtain the latest flight information before setting off, while the Federal Aviation Authority website also boasts up-to-date data about where delays might occur.
Meanwhile, the Miami Herald reports a total of 46 flights to and from Florida, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, were cancelled yesterday (January 26th), while the disruption was experienced until 23:00 local time on that day.
The newspaper also stated American Airlines put at least 280 layovers off across the north-east while the snowstorm was in force, while 65 cancellations were expected throughout Thursday.
Approximately 14 ins of the white stuff was dumped on Massachusetts, according to Boston.com, with 9.9 ins recorded at Logan International Airport but travel chaos was experienced on other transport networks such as buses and trains.
The Weather Channel predicts more snow could fall on Saturday January 29th in Massachussets, with more forecast in the following week on February 1st and 2nd when the temperature could fall as low as ten to 12 degrees F in some places.
