Despite the popularity of 'staycations' this year, Brits are expected to look abroad when planning holidays for 2010, according to a travel industry spokeswoman.
While the 'staycation' has been popular this year amid the credit crunch, UK holidaymakers are expected to go further afield next year, according to a spokeswoman for ABTA - The Travel Association.
Frances Tuke asserted that while the recession has encouraged people to stay at home, many felt "a little short changed" by the poor summer weather and as a result, more are considering destinations abroad for their 2010 holidays.
She added that the UK has a moderate selection of theme parks, but roller coaster fans may instead be drawn to a destination such as Florida, where parks such as Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Walt Disney World are all located in close proximity in Orlando.
"They are bringing in new rides every year so it is an intense holiday experience," she said.
When planning a holiday to the US, it is important to consider a
travel insurance plan that includes hospital treatment and emergency medical evacuation to the UK, according to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
