Tourists who want to pick a destination with a wealth of history may be temped to book a break to Turkey.
According to Joanna Marsh, a spokeswoman for the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office, the ancient cities of Perge and Aspendos are well worth visiting, while the original Roman theatre of Aspendos still hosts shows such as the Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival.
She pointed out that the country - which spans the Europe and Asia border - also has a lot to offer in areas other than just history.
"Side is also a spectacular site, with its ancient ruins set right next to the beautiful sandy beach. Keen golfers will be delighted to find the resort of Belek on their doorstep, with its many world-class courses," said Ms Marsh.
The spokeswoman for the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office he recommended Antalya as one of the cities in the nation that is most worth going to on holiday, as it offers tourists the best of both worlds.
She explained that this is because in the heart of Turkey's Mediterranean coast - meaning it offers a combination of a city break with a beach getaway.
Ms Marsh added: "The old narrow streets are mostly pedestrianised and lead down to the charming, picturesque harbour."
Earlier in the year, Bob Atkinson, travel analyst from travelsupermarket.com, suggested that all-inclusive holidays to Turkey could be one of the most popular breaks for people to book this year.
He explained that this is as the country - along with North Africa - is seen as an affordable destination.
