Turkey is no longer a "last-minute destination"
Turkey can offer travel insurance customers a "really good holiday proposition", a travel company has said.
"Customers this year are looking for a combination of quality accommodation, flexibility on flights and duration, and value for money," said Nigel Harris, chief executive at Artemis Travel.
Mr Harris went on to say that the Middle Eastern country used to be perceived as a "last-minute" holiday destination but now the resorts offer "very good accommodation".
The lira is much more attractive than the euro to British holidaymakers at the moment, he continued, adding people are realising they can get more for their money.
According to figures from M&S Money, sales of Turkish lira increased by 46 per cent in the first three months of the year compared to the same period in 2008.
Turkey was also named tenth most popular country for foreign property investors by property magazine Jet-To-Let.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office recommends obtaining fully comprehensive travel insurance before heading off on holiday.
Cheap travel insurance from Direct Travel Insurance could be one way to keep total holiday expenditure down.
