Try a less traditional honeymoon destination, says website

Newly-wed travel insurance customers looking for somewhere different to spend their honeymoon may wish to head to one of the less obvious destinations suggested by a travel company.

With the peak wedding and honeymoon season closing in, why not opt for a non-typical paradise destination over places such as the Caribbean or Las Vegas, TripAtlas has said.

The travel portal suggests lovebirds head to Marrakech for an "exotic and mysterious" destination. The night market of Djemaa El-Fna will offer a bustling world of snake charmers, acrobats, monkeys and street food, it said.

If couples have their hearts set on Hawaii, the site suggests they try the Garden Island - Kauai - with "mountains that reach the heavens" and "the most stunning coastline in the world".

For a break brimming with passion, a trip to Buenos Aires is recommended - to learn the "true meaning of nightlife".

Closer to home, the site suggests a break at one of the hundreds of castles, abbeys or historical sites in the UK, staying in countryside guesthouses and luxurious bed and breakfasts.

Married couples should not forget to take out travel insurance when heading on their honeymoon. A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta indicated half of all people who travel to a foreign country will experience a health problem.
