France has many options to offer European travel insurance holders a cost-effective break, it has been revealed.
Brits hoping to travel on a restricted budget may wish to consider taking a holiday in France, one travel spokesperson has said.
"France is the closest country from the UK so it offers a wide range of means of transportation, such as ferries and low-cost [airlines]," explained a representative from Atout France.
There are also many options to suit different tastes, he continued, including barge trips in Mayenne, golfing in northern France, spa breaks in the Rhone Alps and Aquitaine and walking tours in Gascony which can all be purse-friendly.
He went on to say that the south and west of the country are popular regions with Brits as they attract beach-lovers in the warm summer months and winter sports enthusiasts in the winter due to the ski resorts.
Those taking out European
travel insurance may be interested in a new section of the French Tourism Website entitled "Affordable France", which offers travellers good-value deals on different aspects of a holiday in the country.
In 2009, approximately the same number of Brits travelled abroad as last year - 15.2 million - according to the Office for National Statistics.
